FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to be a BE member to enter BE Lite?
No. BE Lite has been created specifically for unaffiliated events to allow riders to experience a BE-style competition without BE membership.
Why is BE running this as a pilot?
The pilot phase allows BE to work directly with organisers and riders, understand what works well and use feedback to refine the format before considering a wider rollout.
Will all the BE Lite rules apply during the pilot phase?
Organisers will be testing as many elements of BE Lite as possible so that we can get a good feel for what works, but as a practical matter may need to adjust some things like the special scoring rules.
Does my horse need to be registered?
No. Horse registration is not required for BE Lite.
Is BE Lite the same as a normal BE competition?
No. BE Lite is a more relaxed introduction to the BE environment, with adapted technical rules while maintaining safety and welfare standards.
Do I need full competition clothing and equipment?
No. BE Lite has more relaxed dress and saddlery requirements. Riders should still be appropriately dressed and equipped with required helmets and body protectors, but do not otherwise need to wear different kit for each phase.
Can I continue if something does not go to plan?
BE Lite encourages riders to gain experience and progress, offering an opportunity for both rider and horse to practice and train in a safe environment while enjoying a fun day out. Officials will always intervene where there are safety or welfare concerns to educate and support riders.
Are BE Lite events run by experienced organisers?
Yes, during this pilot phase, BE Lite events will be delivered by organisers who already have experience running BE affiliated competitions.
Will there still be medical and veterinary support?
Yes. BE Lite events will benefit from appropriate safety and welfare support.
Can BE Lite help me move towards affiliated competition?
Yes, for those riders who may wish to move towards affiliated competitions, BE Lite will provide an opportunity to build confidence, understanding and experience.
